I always interpret it as legs

I know, right? I tried cutting one in half with a knife and it was like trying to cut a nylon belt with a butter knife - virtually impossible, and the lil guy didn’t even feel it!

Honestly no clue. I’ve seen the term on the bug’s Wikipedia page first, and it stuck with me since.
I’ve looked into the word itself a bit and interestingly it seems like it’s only ever used to refer specifically to the Hippoboscidae family. Weird name for a shoe brand 😅
And yeah, perfectly engineered is just about the best way to describe them. Their exoskeletons are crazy strong - no amount of stomping will kill them, and I mean that wholeheartedly. One time I had to burn one to a crisp with a lighter because I had no other choice, and the little guy didn’t want to leave my house.

I hate these little guys! Or at least a relative of them - the deer ked (Lipoptena cervi).
Very well adapted to their environment to the point of impressiveness, so I do have respect for them, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re so hard to remove from clothing! At least most of them don’t bother with biting into humans.

Precisely. You need to keep winning, while they just need to win once. Would love it if repeat offenders like these would just stop being considered entirely after being rejected multiple times.

gotta bring this up every time i see these

“bitches” based on the bits that stand out

that’s fascinating! do they ever have problems with stuff getting… inside of there? i couldn’t imagine having something stuck literally behind my eyeball 😅
Europe is very slowly starting to drop 3G. If I recall correctly, here in Poland, my ISP will be dropping their 3G networks this year.

You can go a step further and use breezewiki, which is basically a wrapper for Fandom that disables all the annoying crap.
On any fandom wiki you should be able to just change the url from (…)fandom.com/(…) to (…)antifandom.com/(…) and load that page through breezewiki.
A bit late to the party here, but today I flashed Ubuntu Touch onto a Xiaomi Poco X3, and it’s… well, it’s rough.
All the base functionality seems to be there, calls should work (not sure because I didn’t test them extensively), sms works, location/gps works, nfc is supported, camera is… passable, battery life is certainly, and noticeably worse but that’s a given - when on standby, the battery goes down roughly 8% every 5 hours, so approx. 27% per day on standby.
While I’m really glad to see how much Linux phone development sped up, they are still nowhere near daily driver status - even the phones built with Linux support in mind are not faring well from what I’ve seen. Even then, I’m keeping this Poco X3 because Android’s days seem to be numbered.
