I had “Country Cornflower”.
I also saw a bunch of #4 somewhere. It was either at one set of grandparents’, or one of my friends’ houses.
Mom actually still has the pictured kind, still being used to this day. I was there just last week and there was some of it still drying in the dishwasher. I stole a few plates and bowls when I left, and it’s still the only glassware I’ve ever really used more than a couple times. I’m not particularly find of it, but I have these pieces and I don’t give a fuck what it looks like if it works.
At least it doesn’t have Jesus on it or something. I would draw the line at that.

memes@lemmy.world•Gender reveal parties should be done at 16 years not 16 weeks
5·10 days agoI mean, based on my observations, I think the only people organizing these at all are straight white cisheteronormative types (and further, almost always women).
Maybe that’s just how I’ve seen it, but I’ve never witnessed them, I usually only hear about them at all if a video pops up of a compilation of bad reactions or mistakes (as in wrong color reveal, accidental early reveal) pops up. Maybe that’s just me but I haven’t personally seen much of any other group doing them in the first place. Occasionally there are others, but almost always done by them.

12·11 days agoI’ve said this for years.
“Sex Reveal” has an entirely different connotation.
But just let kids tell you.
Give em a few years on their own to be exposed to how gender is expressed, then let them decide who they are.

1·12 days agoPersonally that’s what I’d like to do anyway. I’m saying that to discuss the growth of the technology among the masses.
Assuming it doesn’t make me violently ill, i like tech and gaming enough to keep it around otherwise. But the potential for the issue and the committal involved off the bat are difficulties for any new, different-enough tech.

5·13 days agoMaybe so, but you probably need to enjoy your first exposure to want to drop money on an entire setup for it.
It’s already crazy enough to drop that money just hoping you like it, but if you drop it hoping it stops making you nauseous, that’s a much bigger ask.
I’m still hoping I won’t have that problem. I do get car sick on meandering drives, but not even close to as bad as I did 10-15 years ago, but the worse the drive gets, the more I have to stay staring out the car windows.
I assume the VR effect would be similar, given it’s a similar symptom, but backwards. (In VR you don’t feel motion, but you see it, whereas in a car, you feel it, but either don’t see it from not looking, or if you have wide visibility it looks like you’re not moving as much compared to the background)

There’s no way people go outside with 4 eyebrows. I mean, not people of the conservative variety since they think all presentations besides “typical white person” should be done away with.

8·13 days agoI was a pretty big enjoyer of the design of the first Steam controller, so adding a second stick and keeping the touchpads sounds great. Also mine broke, I can’t remember exactly what gave out, but it was just destroyed, and using a touchpad for a second stick felt awkward af.
I didn’t even mind the way it bent “backwards”, the fact that the stick and buttons were tiny, or its weird shape. Actually thinking about it, it was the right trigger that broke and just caved in, Spring broke, plastic tab snapped off, just basically a hole left there. I wasn’t about to attempt a repair, either. I don’t have the skill for that.
Anyway, this looks nice. A lot of people seem to call it ugly, but I don’t get it. Sturdy and functional are a good look, so this looks great. And if it functions just as well as the Steam Deck controls, (and of course it will, since it’s basically the same parts except switching out magnetic sticks instead of regular ones)
Here’s hoping the triggers are better on it. It’s definitely on my radar for next year.

8·13 days agoThe problem is to really make an informed decision you have to try it first-hand. The sensory experience unlike any other device, so descriptions aren’t super helpful, video doesn’t convey what it’s actually like, so you really have to experience it to understand it.
Also given how common it seems to be anecdotally to get sick from it, no one wants to jump in just to have to jump back out.
And unless you know someone that already jumped in and can try theirs, a lot of people like me just don’t want to commit sight unseen. (I mean I’m also broke, but this would be true anyway)
I don’t have a way to try it out, so until I do it’s not on my radar to care. I’m very curious about it. Even if I don’t like it I do really want to see what it’s like at least once. But I’m not gonna pay for that chance. It’s gotta impress me without effort on my part (more than driving to it anyway).
I support actually doing this.
As in literally taking the money straight out of the billionaire funding pockets. But not in parity with the amounts used for AI funding, I just mean all of it. And not simply “all of it”, but actually all of it, to the point where they’re in soup kitchen lines and panhandling, hoping to get enough to pay for dinner.
Take all that money and put it in science research, charities, etc.
If they can’t get enough from the charities back to keep breathing, then oh well. Sorry people that deserve it got it instead, oh well, we’ll make a note that we’re all doing great on the money that was yours.

2·15 days agoI’m not even disagreeing mostly, I’m just saying that the use of “inconvenient” has gotten to an extremely hedonistic level.
Pretty soon if I have to blink 2 extra times a day for some reason that’ll be inconvenient.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•‘It shows such a laziness’: why I refuse to date someone who uses ChatGPT
2·15 days agoI don’t actually think many people are open to changing anything, even with information that may indicate good reasons to. Even with good reasons proving they should.
This entire argument could be had over every divisive societal split.
At first they seem rational.
“Letting common people learn how to read books is a bad idea.”
“Listening to the radio is the down fall of this world.”
“TV is a really bad idea.”
“I don’t make friends with Nazis.”
Then they run the gamut of becoming they sound ever so slightly smarter.
“I don’t make friends with conservatives.”
“I don’t make friends with Republicans.”
Skipping ahead:
“I don’t hangout with people who spend all their time watching (insert streaming service here)”
“I don’t like people who don’t hate AI.”
“I don’t date people who use AI.”
“AI use will prevent me from being friends with someone.”
This is just a smattering of divides, there are plenty in between all these if I had to make a spectrum of them, but you get the point.
Anyway, somewhere on this spectrum you find your spot, and everything previous to that spot seems absolutely obvious, your exact spot seems reasonable, and everything beyond you seems utter lunacy.
Currently I’m pretty strong in the “all AI is bad AI” end of it. I think translating can be useful, but still isn’t great, but I can easily see how a perfectly-preserved translation can be useful. But I don’t see much actual use or value beyond that. And given it’s enormous power and water drain just to support something that might be valuable later, this approach is ass-backwards.
Previous world shaking technologies were easy to find value in pretty quick. Language, printing press, radio, TV… So could be used for brain rot, but information sharing is generally good (if it’s honest).
But AI doesn’t really have a killer application (yet, anyway) and devoting this much to it before we figure out any potential way to use it that makes it worth what we’re giving up to use it is absolutely bonkers.
I don’t personally currently know of anything that’s even possible that it can be used for, but I’m willing to hear use cases.
Meanwhile we’ve got lazy thinkers that have less than zero reason to believe in God that still do. So just having evidence isn’t all there is to it. You have to be open enough to acknowledge and change with that evidence.

1·15 days agoThat’s just diluting the word. If doing literally anything different at all is considered “inconvenient”, then people are just fucking lazy af. Like an over the top amount of lazy.
If supporting a Nazi platform is considered easier to them than having even a raindrop of effort, then they’re probably not worth the oxygen they’re taking from someone else, tbh.
At least assuming they’re not autistic or some other disability. I can totally see it with certain conditions, but other than that it’s just shameful.

1·15 days agoI can believe going through the account deletion is inconvenient.
But you cannot make me believe that just deleting the app is. Takes less than 5 seconds unless your shortcut is millions of homescreens deep.
I mean I got everything I use often on one screen, and everything I use occasionally is like 4 extra icons on the second. You cannot convince me that is inconvenient.
And even if you could, just ignoring it is even less inconvenient.
Then you have to decide how much effort it is to prevent their emails showing up. Either following them or going back and deleting the account are your choices. One is less convenient and more thorough. Decide between those.
I did it around the time he bought the place. I didn’t even know anything about his politics at the time, but I barely used it and that picture of him with the funk with that shit eating grin and the general sentiment of everybody’s else’s feelings on it just pissed me off. Once the election started I was happy to be far away.
I mean based solely on the picture I would choose Debian. I would change to Arch for my horny outfit.
Speaking of which, can we decide on canon skirts/dresses for these? 😂
Omg I forgot KYM existed.
Thank you

It does.
I mean whenever I put my shoes on, my dick grows like 5 inches. So it’s just science, really. Obviously the bigger the shoe, the bigger I get. You know it happens. Everybody knows this. Many people are saying it.
