I almost hate to ask this since it’s come up so much already, but what’s with the Dragon Rider drama? Like what’s going on
Tbh, at this point, there’s no tl;dr that’s realistic, and everyone has kinda covered it so well in the past that my best advice is to scroll back through this C/ and find the previous posts. It really has been done to death.
I think I’ve given my synopsis of it maybe three or four times, and those versions are likely better than what I could come up with again.
Guess we don’t need to hear your opinion on it literally every time it comes up then, huh?
And who the fuck are you, trying to be a dick for no good reason?
A terminally online ADHD peep that takes note of the people using Lemmy’s small community to pursue weird grievances against individuals instead of just using the block feature.
I have no clue who you are, or what your beef is, but you get your wish on the blocking angle, you won’t have to deal with me again
Lol.
Not how blocking works on Lemmy, and notice how he’s still out to pursue his weird beef.
I used to think drag was just a troll account making fun of neopronouns, but I don’t think that’s accurate anymore. Dragon Rider used to go by Dragon Fucker and uses “drag” as drag’s only pronoun, and like I used to, a bunch of people thought drag was just a troll. But if it’s a bit then there’s nothing to the bit other than a weird pronoun, drag just seems like a decent person from what I’ve seen. Drag also made a very genuine looking post about drag’s struggles with mockery and disrespect, mainly from .world users and admins, and drag’s struggle to avoid self harm over it. I think Dragon Rider is a cool person and people (including me) should give drag the benefit of the doubt, or at least avoid drag and don’t be an asshole if you don’t like drag.
I think drag also once told someone who was feeling suicidal about the state of the world that they should fight rather than killing themself, and a bunch of people took it in cartoonishly bad faith and now say drag told someone to kill themself. Bc nothing screams “kys” quite like “don’t kys, you can do some good”
Didn’t that user literally tell someone if they’re suicidal to kill a red hat (trump supporter) and them themselves like come on.
Anyway they’re a troll, literally the blackface equivalent for transgender people.
How infuriated would you be if someone in blackface said you’re only offended at someone pretending to be black because you hate black people? And how more infuriated would you be if you got banned for racism for calling out someone in blackface? Switch black with transgender and now you see why everyone hates this user.
Again, I don’t see evidence drag’s a cis troll unless you take drag’s identity as evidence, and doing that is a real good way to wind up stuck and not accepting people you don’t understand. I’m nonbinary and not much makes me more angry or depressed than other trans people and “allies” saying I’m cis or that I’m responsible for trans people’s suffering. The amount of hurtful shit drag’s dealt with on lemmy must be a lot worse, and drag hasn’t done anything to deserve the amount of shit drag gets. If you have evidence that drag’s being disingenuous besides vibes lmk, otherwise quit equating identities you don’t understand or respect to blackface
So many randos on Tumblr with pronouns of aesthetics, emojis, animals, and fictional characters are just so normal about it. Oh, right, and most of them have “auxiliary sets” for those who would have an issue using these pronouns, and take no offense if someone prefers not to call them puddingself. I personally prefer not to, since I run the risk of dropping “puddingself” in a conversation and having to explain and I’d rather not explain an experience that isn’t mine. These people would often go by one or more micro identities that, while being very specific, still involve a relationship to the binary genders. While I don’t entirely get nonbinary I’m not going to go around assuming it’s all fake. However, “furry” is not an identity, marginalized group, or protected class, it’s a label for someone who engages in a hobby.
They’re also not deliberately starting shit, then calling everyone against them “transphobes”. They may get hate here and there for existing, but not for accusing people of being transphobic for being infuriated at constant gaslighting and reactive abuse.
Oh, right, they’re also not creating communities and accounts to harass other users by constantly @'ing them and sending unsolicited porn and dickpics.
You know, the things ultra far-gone conservatives accuse trans people of 🥱
I haven’t heard about the unsolicited porn and dick pics. you have receipts?
You should listen to the voice that’s telling you not to add more spoons to this already heavily-stirred bowl of shit.
I have no idea what this is about, as “Dragon Rider” could refer to an abundant number of popular fantasy series, so I am curious to see a real answer about it.
I would have to imagine if it is anything like most other “drama” these days, it’s entirely meaningless and effectively just translates to a rage bait mine that one could try to exploit for ad revenue or imaginary internet points or something. Something people will completely forget about in a week.
Honestly if you don’t know, delete your comment, hide this thread, and live without knowing.
Burying one’s head in the sand is an awful reaction to just about anything. If I had done what you said, I would have remained uninformed on this topic because it is about a Lemmy user, and no other place would have provided the answer to this information.
I am glad someone else responded with a basic summary of their assessment of the situation. There is, of course, more to the story, but from the summary I can see that it is as I thought, something that is completely meaningless to me and has zero influence on anything I currently do or plan to do. I didn’t even know this question was about a Lemmy user, I thought it was about like Dragon Riders of Pern’s author, or perhaps a FATE character’s design or voice actor or something because I have very minimal knowledge of FATE but that sounds like it could be a character from FATE. Not that any of that is all that important to me either, but those topics are still far more important to me than personal social-political bickering in an online forum.
Upon learning this information, I can now drop interest in the topic and not wonder what the question was asking about.
Based.
It’s just annoying and not worth anyone’s time lol
