The nicene creed had to explicitly ban self castration.
I’m not usually one to support hunting down and suppressing heresies but I’m glad orthodoxy put an end to this practice.
Did they change the Bible’s stance on stoning women? Or burning women? Or selling women?
If not they should get on that too. Really nifty that you can just change your holy book. Saves a ton of hassle in the long run.

I am no theologian, but I think they only approve of this type of thing if it’s done as a self-punishment or “mortification of the flesh”. Self harm as a punishment for being too horny? Great!
Doing it because it makes you happier and closer to your true self? Sinful! Straight to hell!
But like Jesus and Muhammad said that’s bad or something. Better blame it on the women and make them cover up.
Jesus specifically blames it on the person experiencing lust
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
