Beyoncé claimed to be “bringing back black country” when black country never went anywhere. It’s incredibly insulting to all of the other actual black country singers and artists. Also her album is just bad. Like literally terrible terrible music. It’s clearly just a cash grab.
Agree. I think it’s awesome that’s she’s potentially bringing in new listeners and talent to the mainstream part of the genre, but her album was imho not good. She has plenty of great songs, but unfortunately none of them were on that album. Really looking forward to the ripples we see in the genre from people inspired to break into it though. I think there is so much that a slightly more visible revival of folk/bluegrass could do.
Very similar to when she claimed to be the first black woman to headline the Glastonbury festival and Skin from Skunk Anansie was like, ex-fucking-scuse me.
You hate Beyonce for her skin color
I hate Beyonce for her wealth and ideology
Insert we are not the same meme
You hate Cowboy Carter because you are racist.
I hate Cowboy Carter because I think racist country music culture should be marginalized, not expanded.
I hate Beyoncé because every time I listen to her music while skateboarding or snowboarding I get too hyped and then I get hurt badly. It’s the Illuminati at work IMO.
It’s perfectly ok not to like Beyonce.
Beyonce is OK, but I’m more of a fan of Rhianna, personally.
Not a fan of any kind of contemporary country music, though. It’s my personal opinion that country music hasn’t been good since at least the days of John Denver. The stuff they make these days is derivative slop.
Which were themselves covers of black songs during segregation?
‘Jolene’ and ‘Blackbird’ were covers of black songs? Which ones?
John Lennon, who originally wrote blackbird, was heavily influenced by 90s hip hop. /s
Uh, In Rainbows with Beyoncé’s voice would suck. I don’t think that makes a person racist. us Americans are obsessed with race.
You misunderstand American racism. They will never, ever, EVER say its about race. But if you go through what they don’t like about something… all that remains is race.
