Kamala Harris has said that she currently has no desire to re-enter “the system” of American politics because it is “broken”.
On Thursday night the Democratic party’s defeated presidential nominee, who replaced Joe Biden late in the 2024 campaign after he dropped his re-election bid, gave her first interview since losing the election to Donald Trump, talking to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show.
After she announced she will not run for the governorship of California just a day earlier, Harris told the TV show that it was about something more “basic” than whether she wanted to run for something else instead – with the subtext being whether she will attempt a White House run again in 2028.
Really curious how she can feel the system is broken, while doing absotuley nothing to ask for a recall to show how broken it is.
Like. You feel the system is broken and want to leave it? Cool. Maybe you could have publically pushed to show how broken it was when you had the power to do so?
Weren’t you the one running on a campaign to fix that brokeness? Was that just PR? Because it’s seems like Democrats are just speedruning what they do best: standing by and doing nothing as evil proliferates.
I’m glad she’s stepping down. But what a hypocritical way to do it. She should have gone out guns blazing, asking for a recount and pushing it to the Supreme court if necessary. We might have had a chance to avoid all this if she actually acted like the system was broken, instead of complaining about it now that she’s leaving it. Perfect opportunity to go out guns blazing, instead she’s on Colbert.
I swear every Democrat has a collapsible string where a spine should be.
When did she ever claim she intended to fix anything? She openly said she couldn’t think of anything she’d do differently from Biden.
And followed it up by promising to appoint a republican to her cabinet.
As the candidate who lost the election, she’s literally the only person who had the power to issue a recount.
She failed in that responsibility. Despite the 2016 election interference, and Jan 6th. Trump has never had a fair election, and she chose to ignore that in favor of respect?
Please. Respect is earned. Not given. Especially when the protection of our democracy comes with it.
Any reasonable, spine-having American would have challenged the results immediately rather that talk about how broken shit got because they failed in their ultimate responsibility as an American.
Why would they call for a recount? There was no reason to believe the results were inaccurate. After the election, her own staff admitted it was all a grift, and their internal polling never once showed her polling ahead of Trump.

You Blue MAGA’s are just as unhinged as Red MAGA.

The fact that you can only acknowledge the GOP being openly fascist, as the Democrats declare their support for ICE raids and genocide, is exactly why you’re Blue MAGA.

Reagan won 49 out of 50 states at the hight of his popularity. His opponent Mondale won his home state of Minnesota, making it the only state with a history of continually voting Democrat for presidency back beyond 1988.
It is not hard to believe that trump swept the swing states, politics is much less regional and more national than it was in Reagan’s era.

Democrats really are just the Republicans of ten years ago. So in this case: genocide denying conspiracy theorists.

I’ve never heard anyone say respect is earned not given that isn’t a narcissist.
Respect SHOULD be given. It should also be taken away when it’s clear it isn’t deserved. To do otherwise is to live in a fucking cesspit of a world.
Trump deserves zero respect though. Just to be clear.
When respect is given over caution, it’s used to manipulate those who would give it so freely. When the question is about choosing to respect our voting process OR protect it, there’s now nothing left to protect. Through naivety, evil prevails. Sorry if that sounds too narcissitic. What is even left in our system to be narcissitic about, let alone respectable?
The Smithsonian? Kennedy Center? PBS? CBS? How about those cuts to Vaccine research? Medicare? Social Security?
How about all the major cabinet positions now being held by TV and podcast personalities making us more of a Kakistocracy than a Democracy?
You want to give that respect? I want it to be fucking worth respecting.
Seeing as it all wasn’t worth protecting in exchange for a basic recall in an election with someone that’s cheated twice before. That’s not respect. That’s naive at best. Stupid at worst.
