Wait… so the guy was born in Brooklyn to parents from Guyana, and ICE has him down as born in Guyana? Or the guy was born in Guyana and moved to Brooklyn before he was 5, and now the legality of his parents’ immigration has come into question decades later?

I can’t make sense of this no matter how I look at it. I expect they’ll be coming for Obama next.

As a foreign national who steers clear of the country, I’m another step down the list. But I still figure they’ll get to me eventually.

ICE is saying he was born in Guyana and entered the country in 1999 (which would’ve been after he was 5, but I think it’s totally possible he grew up in Brooklyn and then visited Guyana in 1999 and that’s what they’re calling his entry to the country), the school district is saying he was licensed by the state of Iowa and passed a background check so they had no reason to doubt his citizenship status and they "have not been able to verify as to whether that information [what ICE is claiming] is accurate,”
