I’ve had this guy in a pot for years. We’re finally getting some fat juicy lemons off of it!
Are you telling me containers have grown on trees this whole time
How exciting!
Not to diminish your accomplishment since growing fruit in containers is very difficult but for a Californian with hundreds of these that I never end up using this is a little funny.
Lol, yes, I’m aware. I’m very jealous of what you’re able to grow out there. I’m in Georgia (zone 7b). I like the idea of growing something that I couldn’t normally grow here.
Lemons 🍋 are yellower on the other side 🙂
I really struggle with my Meyer. Its been in a pot for two years now. I got a tiny lemon only once.
Give it time! Also fertilizer. Citrus love fertilizer.
Honestly you don’t really want them to set much fruit when they’re little. Better to put all its energy into getting big and strong first.
My experience with my Meyer lemon tree (I didn’t plant it and am an atrocious caretaker - I’m sorry tree) is that the flavor varies by size. Big ones like what you’ve got are nice and juicy but less tart. For something like a cocktail or culinary acid (dressings, etc), you’ll probably want to pick them when they’re smaller. Have fun experimenting!
Thanks! Yes, that’s been my experience.
