1·2 days agoI get that you do, so downvote, get yourself an instance and ban accounts that break the rules, I’m 100% for it.
My initial post I was both agreeing with the comment about the sentiment, that they shouldn’t have to be confronted with it. The rest was an attempt to illustrate why it’s human nature and inevitable. I ended it saying I’m sorry assholes do it. I meant it both politically and in support of the sentiment.
So you attack and swear at me when I agree but happen to acknowledge that it’s going to fucking happen and suggest you learn to ignore it.
Grow the fuck up.

1·2 days agoSo don’t do the thing you seem incapable of doing and do not engage with it. I never forced you to read my posts, and this is a public forum where people can downvote to their hearts content.
The reason I’m even mentioning it is as a discussion. I’m not doing it, but I am also observant enough of human nature to know some rules on the side of the page won’t do shit. Just like the politics, either do something about it or ignore it.
Otherwise good luck changing reality.

Sorry if some folks have shower thoughts about things that are happening in the world. Ignore the thoughts you can’t handle or grasp. The world has a lot of shit happening and a lot of people take showers.

10·4 days agoWe’re not the ones commiting the horrors of the world, nor are we the ones able to stop them. It’s not our job, duty or obligation to be confronted by them at all times, in all aspects of our lives.
This was the attitude of millions of Americans.
I don’t disagree with you at all, you didn’t do this, you aren’t responsible for it but it’s here nonetheless. My kiddo is recovering from surgery right now, it wasn’t his fault, he didn’t ask for it, but if we didn’t do something about it, he would have had terrible repercussions from it. Did we have to do it, no, we could have just noted it and hoped it would take care of itself. Was it unfair, absolutely. But he’s got meds to take, and even though he didn’t ask for any of this, he’s doing what he needs to to get better.
I’m truly sorry, as someone from one of the places fucking up the world. I too did not ask for this, and I’ve been trying as hard as I can to prevent and now stop this. The horrors will continue, it’s happening in places all across the world, I hope it doesn’t arrive for you.

12·6 days agoI get the feeling, I feel the same way. Somehow though we need to find a way to keep fighting. Honestly, just conversation and awareness helps.
I don’t know how, but ultimately this is on us all to fix, there is no one coming to help. So we just need to keep being diligent, take one more step, show up at one more protest, alter your buying habits, do little things to gum up the system, keep posting, keep arguing, keep holding the fucking line instead of just standing there pointing at it.
America is more than embarrassment, it’s a fucking worldwide disaster and danger. Fuck the news, every last bit of the mainstream media has capitulated or actively participates. Shit like this, Lemmy, mastodon and other human centric spaces, independent and local news sources are where to get your info.
I’m sorry to harp on you, not directed at you, just a little triggered lately. Self fulfilling inaction will get us nowhere.

19·7 days agoThis is the hardest part. I am trying to let go of my anger as they slowly start to notice and pretend like either no one could have seen this coming, or they were against it all along.
If one single person in my sphere ever just came to me and said “I guess you were right” that would do so much for my mental health. But I need to get past that, and just be happy they finally are coming around.
I am exceptionally bitter seeing some of my formerly maga associates, getting heaps of praise for waking up while the same assholes praising them, were the ones telling me I’m the crazy one. Clearly still have anger to let go of…

Ran across this lately. I guess you can start calling me Cassandra:

5·8 days agoPeople should think about a NASS or Home servers like they do about owning a vehicle.
I wholeheartedly agree. Hell, home server/nas should be more common than cars, I don’t drive every day, but my data is used every minute of every day.
Why it was funny in the first place. I knew I was messing with the best.
I swear on my life this happened to me but I don’t care if you believe me or not.
This goes back some years, back when the ping of death was still a thing. I used to hang out in IRC channels and someone decided they needed to show me what a real hacker could do. The dork asked for my IP which was hilarious to begin with, so I replied “127.0.0.1”. About 2 seconds later I see them disconnect from IRC.
A minute goes by and they are back online, spitting mad. Tells me i’m lucky their computer crashed but I’d better get ready…and disconnected again.
Back again and folks are dying laughing thanks to my 1337 teenage hacker skills but eventually someone spills that 127.0.0.1 is localhost. Instantly I’m talking to zero cool again and was too scared to give out my actual address. Being a hardened nerd, this time I complied.
I was on slackware and had already figured out their game from the get go; oh and I actually knew how to find an IP. So right in the middle of this future titan of industry’s insults and threats…they disconnect one last time. 😎

Technology@lemmy.world•More than 145,000 OpenClaw instances exposed to internet in latest vibe-coded disasterEnglish
2·11 days agoNope, nothing useful. Right now I am playing with making some skills to do some rudimentary network testing. I figure it’s always nice to have a remote system to ping or nslookup or check a website from a remote location. I have it hooked to a telegram bot (burner account and restricted to just me) and I can ask it to ping or get me a screenshot or speedtest, etc. from anything it can reach on the internet.
Only purpose right now is to have something to show off :).
You are 100% describing the plan that I am. My only difference is in the voting. Voting has never shown solidarity or at least that solidarity has never delivered any results and I don’t see the point in wasting any power we have.
Use the tools of the system we are trapped in to break it.

8·11 days agolol, straight from the redundant department of redundancies.
I do words good.

I don’t hate AI, I kinda like it and I do think it will redefine computing in the future.
I hate the people behind it, and who are pushing it. I hate the hype, I hate the pressure, I hate how dangerous it is without guardrails, I hate the stupidity of people using it, and getting addicted to it because it’s an ego stoking machine. I hate the entire industry around it.
But I really enjoys using and learning about it in my own sandbox. I use a number of local LLMs successfully for research and learning. But I don’t trust them, at all, I think of them as an egotistical knowitall who has no problem lying to make themselves feel smart. There’s tons of useful info to get from them, but you have to understand what you are dealing with.
I’m very curious what the future looks like. It really depends on us though. Critical thinking and being observant are the new critical skills for success in the he future. Unfortunately neither are particularly common these days so I have a feeling I will continue to hate for a while now…
