I didn’t follow them, as I still felt responsible for what my vote does today, but that did make many so hopeless they only saw any long term salvation in accelerationism in lieu of any other place to put their hope with two oligarch captured right-wing parties being our only “choice.” I lost hope for a decent future too, but Im a sucker for the starfish parable of minimizing the current harm as much as I have the power to do, even with no rational hope of anything getting better in my lifetime.

I live in a caucus state.

Till the day I die, I will never forget sitting in a classroom during the caucuses (they use schools for the caucuses and break us up into groups for the caucus debate that’s supposed to occur) as the small number of leftists made our cases for Sanders and pleaded with the Neoliberals there to ordain the DNC’s chosen bribe taker to just stop and think.

Not a single neoliberal in any caucus I attended ever said a word beyond their bribe taker candidate’s stock statement. They scowled at us like WE were their enemy there to inconvenience them, voted for their corrupt stooge, and left.

And I still voted for their bribe taker in the general out of harm reduction, as I did with Harris, the latest meet the Fascists in the middle let the poors die in the streets or when they get sick hey here’s Liz Cheney endorsing me “good guy.” We did this to ourselves. And the capitalists on Wall Street are the main villains, but we by and large had to be receptive to “well you could be rich someday too!” instead of standing with our worst off neighbors who needed help for their confidence scheme coup to work.

I don’t care if China steals my data or uses my router as a vector for a DOS attack at this point. My fascist nation already has domestic back doors to spy on me if I was interesting enough. My opinion of China is roughly the same as my opinion of my own red white and blue shithole, about as low as you can go. In fact, their regular people on the street seem a hell of a lot more prosocial and EMPATHETIC than I’ve ever seen here in the US going by Rednote. I’m on nobody’s side geopolitically because nobody is on my side.

I think thematically over the trilogies, it’s laid on pretty thick that the Jedi beaurocracy of titles, ranks, and arbitrary rules was their downfall.

This is exploitation, antisocial hell. We aren’t a society so much as a gaggle of rugged individuals at each other’s throats for ever dwindling oligarch scraps. There is no hope here, no community, only tribal division and hatred stoked 24/7 by for profit media, with intentionally poor public education that doesn’t teach basic critical thinking or reasoning that leaves most unable to separate the propaganda from reality.

People have just started to realize after 50 years that both major parties, and our system undermines the formation of a third major party, stand with the robber barons against needs of the people while stoking social division to protect the robber barons from reprisal.

Kinda demoralizing. Especially considering all the “Herp derp Freedom” kool-aid poured down our throats from birth.

Neoliberal good cop/fascist bad cop was always a race to the bottom. This was inevitable so long as we fail to cut the capitalists down to size, and both parties are paid to defend their con game from us by stoking social issue division to stop the peasants from looking up at the oligarchs, our common enemies whether you’ve been brainwashed into worshipping them or not.

I voted for Harris out of attempted harm reduction as I do like clockwork for the lesser evil, but voting Neoliberal only slowed the sinking, it was never going to make things better, just worse a little slower as the Neoliberals kept meeting their opposition in the new middle every cycle to keep up with the market’s demands for new, crueler ways to privately profit off human misery both parties are paid to defend and expand. A vote for continued quiet capitalist slaughter over loud, bragging capitalist slaughter. Not peace. Under Harris, healthcare rackets would still be murdering Americans legally, homeless Americans would still be dying in droves literally as a point to keep the laborers fearful as it would be cheaper to house them then deal with the fallout of them being homeless, etc.

But by all means keep the focus of your ire on the people who had nothing to vote for, only against for the last half century. You’re basically attacking the silent cowards in 1930 Germany and not the Nazis.

There are only 2 ways this ends, either the Mario’s brother method, or capitalist enforced climate change will collapse the capitalist’s con game and human civilization for us if humanity is too chickenshit to depose the economic metastasis, growth or and die capitalist cult and embrace economic equilibrium with environmental homeostasis. The parties are captured. No amount of voting will fix this. Reagan and Kemp saw to that when they captured their opposition. The last vote Americans had on the shape and priorities of our inhuman economy was in 1980, we only get a vote on how to address the social wedge symptoms of it, and only if addressing those symptoms won’t meaningfully effect quarterly earnings expectations.

Whether it was Trump in 2020, this, or one of his mutant children in another 4 years, our tolerance and worship of greed was going to lead to this. Maga, Trump’s rise as more than a gameshow host con-man, and imperialism are symptoms of our avarice rot induced collapse, not the causes. The cause are the capital markets being allowed to infect our politics and override any societal values we ever had prior to other than metastasize at all human cost.

Yup, “designated protest zones” with a permit were designed to preserve the illusion of protest while removing the efficacy in the wake of the civil rights movement, removing protest from the eyelines, profit operations, and governmental operation of those being protested.

If a protest isn’t disruptive, it’s masturbation. Might feel good, but it won’t do shit.

Just as with our American free speech, it’s been neutered into not mattering, and it will be silenced on for profit media and buried/quieted on for profit social media if it’s an opinion the oligarchs don’t want to be spread, just like Luigi when they realized nothing they could propagandize using their for profit bully pulpits would turn our crony capitalist beaten citizenry against him.

The final lesson of the movie is important.

The sociopaths ending the world will never be satisfied, and they’ll win because good people have too many rules and too much good faith. It isn’t the failure of decent people, hug your loved ones, be happy and content as the sociopath capitalists can’t be.

The greed class will end the world for our species, but unless you let them turn yourself into them trying to beat them at their own monstrous propaganda game, and you can’t beat them as they revel in lies and cruelty like decent people can’t, they can’t force you to be as empty, hateful, and insecure inside as they have to be to need so much affirmation and power(capital).

They have no friends, they have no loved ones, they have no trust, only associates and threats and assets and “big moves.” They see their own children as investments in legacy that they cast aside when they fail to become hateful, greedy, ambitious little clones of themselves.
