No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•During the lead up to the Holocaust did the N... regime just kidnap people who they even thought were Jews? Kind of like ICE is doing to citizens today?

The system Anki uses is Spaced Repetition which is a proven efficient learning method, for example my language learning app uses it too. It’s just an algorithm in a way. I encourage you to check it out even if your method works it could be a nice tool to know still
Only if you make it a gangbang to stay true to the source material
Gonna radically oversimplify but everything in your gut is actually its own little ecosystem, influenced by your environment and genetics but mostly of course what you eat. And that microbiome actually has ways to talk to the brain and vice versa through the Gut-Brain axis, affecting your decisions and emotions. So if for example you eat only junk food, it will be bad for that biodiversity and your gut microbiome will be shit and it will make you feel like shit. But if you take probiotics, eat healthy and varied and whatnot, you’ll have stronger more diverse microbiote, which in turns lead to healthier outcomes.
This is all still being studied of course and it’s unclear if really either your brain or gut is in charge or both, and who affects whom and when, but they talk. But I feel like following the old adage of caring about what you put in your body is good enough. It just means the things we eat and ingest leave living traces in our body that can affect us after we’re done with it. So yeah if you only eat shit you’ll kinda feel more like shit.
this is exactly how your gut microbiome tells you what to eat in a way

Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening? May 6
8·8 months agoI’m continuing on Let This Radicalize You which is full of great hands-on practical “right now” tales and advice on creating the change you want to see in the world. It’s so recent yet still reads like a million years away before the second Trump term and such. But it’s solid although very detailed in its recounts of mutual aid stories, sometimes a bit needlessly I thought, but I’m already radicalized in a way so I guess some people might still need these horror stories of state abuse in such realistic grim detail.

17·9 months agoHow is it dead tech if everything still works, apps are still being made and websites still publish feeds? Literally every Substack and such has an rss it’s so easy that most websites have it without knowing and don’t link it but it works anyway

65·9 months agoAdvertising RSS feeds is also a good way to reach back and replace substack. People have forgotten them but they still work just as much as before. I’ve dug up Reeder that is still kicking after all these years.
I thought it was a trans joke at first yeah, like a “for now…” smirk :D

The internet is baked with so many amazing ideas I’m glad it came to be from people with humanity’s good at heart or that at least wanted to protect it from the worst elements and share knowledge.
