A big one that I don’t think is in this video is it hashed similar looking images and the Mod can ban them, this is useful to stop CSAM

I plan on getting another 6TB drive, leave it at my parents and have it power on once a week and sync, so that if my house burns down I don’t lose everything

The important thing is if it’s worth the price, paying 5$ extra per month in power might be worth it for a LOT of people

PS. Checkout PieFed, it’s much more feature rich compared to lemmy, and has better mod tools.

WiFi is very inefficient compared to a Lan cable, yet we use those
Ek-Hou-Van-Braai@piefed.socialOPto Technology@lemmy.world•True Wireless Power is FINALLY here (building a TRULY wire-free desk setup)English18·7 days agoEfficiency and outright performance isn’t always a priority.
A lan cable outperforms a wireless Internet connection in every way, yet most people just use WiFi
Ek-Hou-Van-Braai@piefed.socialto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I have an acquaintance that have their own "password system" that involves having a "core" set of characters, plus a few unique characters for each site; Is that system safe?English39·10 days agoYou can buy leaked passwords from the dark web if you know someone’s email.
So if someone got say 5 passwords from this person and look at them they’d very quickly be able to figure out the pattern and would know all their passwords.
The method they use is safe from scripts etc. But not foolproof
Strict parents create sneaky kids.
It’s good that you’re protective, but be careful not to be overly protective, kids need to think for themselves, make mistakes and learn from them.
