You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK Employers do NOT verify your total work history unless you're applying for a government position.
7·5 months agoRight, so leaving jobs off your resume is probably not a good idea. Year-long gaps in your employment history will get you passed on, as well.

3·5 months agoSo if you’re keeping off any jobs that you’ve worked at for less than 2 years, does that mean you lie about dates to cover up the gaps?

rpg@ttrpg.network•Is it more important that a combat system *is* fast or that it *feels* fast?
26·5 months agoGod, PLEASE…go with actually faster combat. It’s hard enough to get everyone to commit to showing up to the game for a few hours on any kind of a regular basis. Don’t waste what little time they DO have to tell stories together with pointless minutia. Just one guy’s (very fervent) opinion. ;)

rpg@ttrpg.network•What's your favourite TTRPG for a fantasy setting?
3·5 months agoI quite like Monte Cook’s Cypher System for just about any setting. Fast, elegant rules with just the right amount of crunch to keep things interesting. It’s really easy to grasp and can be easily tailored to fit any setting. I also love how it uses a descriptive sentence instead of cookie-cutter character classes.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•What would remain for a future species if humans were to vanish tomorrow?
4·5 months agoVery little, if anything, would remain of our civilization in five or six million years. At least I wouldn’t think so, aside from what we have floating in outer space. Six million years is an awfully long time, and it’s not like our consumer-based society builds things to last…

rpg@ttrpg.network•What's the best vampire ttrpg that *isn't* in the Masquerade universe?
3·5 months agoI’ve been toying around with the idea of a vampire-themed setting using the Cypher System (MY go-to!). I’ve got tons of ideas…it’ll be a fun writing exercise, if nothing else! :)

6·5 months agoSounds like ‘What We Do in Shadows - the TTRPG’ (which isn’t terrible!). =)

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The sheer amount of acronyms used to explain my behavior is beginning to look like the eye-chart at the vision clinic.
6·5 months agoThis has not been my experience, unfortunately.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Without the precursor of Spirituality and Religion, there can be no morality.
6·5 months agoI believe someone else used the term ‘sealioning’. It fits, in your case. This is why I don’t see any point in having a debate with you. Waste your time with someone else.

20·5 months agoI would argue that morality came before religion or spirituality, and therefore does not require either of them to exist.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Having the ability to lie and manipulate with no remorse will get you much further in this world than having morals and being correct
20·5 months agoOne doesn’t do the right thing to be rewarded or to ‘get ahead’. One does the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. Selfishness only leads to insecurity and loneliness.

rpg@ttrpg.network•GMs - What are your methods to mitigate no-shows?
2·5 months agoThis reminds me of the extremely-low-budget-and-really-dated-but-still-hilarious film, ‘The Gamers’. One of the players can’t make it to the session, and so in all of the live-action scenes, you see this character just standing still and staring off into space while the rest of the group is fighting, etc. =)

rpg@ttrpg.network•GMs - What are your methods to mitigate no-shows?
4·5 months agoThis makes sense to me. I like the idea of playing the absent player’s character by committee. I don’t usually run the kinds of games where just anyone can hop in or hop out of the game (I always have story arcs), so having the group take over an absent player’s character seems like a logical method to mitigate their absence. Thanks so much for sharing!

20·6 months agoExactly. Not encouraging violence, encouraging ACTIVISM. I fucking love it!
While I understand and agree with your enthusiasm, I don’t believe this is the right channel for this sort of post.
