I literally was banned when I detailed my experiences tutoring Chinese exchange students in university. I noted that their die hard belief that Taiwan is not a country, face to face with Taiwanese students, is not disimiliar from MAGA-brand nationalism. Good luck, but don’t mistake that you haven’t seen it for it not happening. The narrative manipulation over there is real.

Okay, but that quote doesn’t support the conclusion that engaging in harm-reduction via voting is instead a bad thing. In fact, it doesn’t even argue that your vote doesn’t matter. The only thing it suggests - and I can’t even say “proves” here, as your own disclaimer brings the validity of this study’s conclusions into question - is that mass voting doesn’t result in policy change from the major parties.
Voting for the party that is going to bomb brown people, rather than the one that is going to bomb brown people, round up locals who look too brown, and de-legitimize LGBTQ+ peoples of all demographics, is harm reduction worth engaging in.
I eagerly await the total failure of capitalism as much as the next socialist, but I am not condemning local minorities just to win some form of imagined moral high ground.

8·6 days agoThat’s the funny thing about echoes: they tend to distort whatever is being said. Perfect for not letting pesky little things like reality get between you and what you want to hear.

3·17 days agoI dislike the term Communism, as it’s associations with Stalinist thought muddies the waters between it and Fascism. I identify as socialist, myself.
What I take issue with is the fact that you support fascism and call it by a different name. I quite enjoyed “misinformation and hate” as a more direct statement. As an aside, go fuck yourself, fascist.

You can make any argument you want when you imagine words to mean whatever you need them to mean.

6·17 days agoLet’s be straight here: the likliest scenario is that Lemmy was explicitly created for the purpose of giving tankies a platform to spread misinformation and hate. It is the Nazi bar.

13·17 days agoLiterally no one above you conflated anarchists and marxists with tankies.
Imagine playing victim about something no one said. The very definition of “strawman.”

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Should've banned it all the way through high school, but it's better than most.English
23·1 month agoAs a teacher, I can’t agree enough. I’m really tired of being handed slop from my coworkers, and then having to weigh the social implications of explaining to them how I know it is slop and why this particular case of slop is bad. The amount of energy I have to spend deconstructing their use of AI, and then translating and validating that deconstruction to them, doesn’t match the effortlessness with which they pump out more slop and leave me frustrated that I have to do this every time.
Just ban it from use in elementary and secondary schools, please.
I’ve been enjoying “using AI is like using a hammer to put screws it a board. It looks fine and holds together for a bit, but the littlest bit of pressure or shaking and it starts to fall apart.”
