Upvoting because this is definitely a controversial take
This sounds very much like the German electoral system, except in the German system your address and your preferred “group” are relevant. You get two votes, one is for a local representative, the other is just for a party (so you could freely vote for the “gamer” party if it existed), and both votes contribute seats to government.
Leftists practice tolerance but they’re not really willing to go as far as actually compassion, empathy, and mercy.
Are there specific leftist philosophies that imply this? Or is this a bad faith generalisation?
I’m confused, are you saying that most straight white men are not left… Because they all want to go to mars?
While I think this is mostly true, I think there are some potentially problematic “edge cases”, for example do you think it would be moral for someone to abort all girls until they eventually have a boy?
I would describe myself as fairly left, but I’m not the most educated on accurate political terminology
I believe that the vast majority of people are inherently good, and that tribalism and political divisiveness are some of the biggest issues we have to face.
Political differences arise mostly from different values, fears, education (or lack thereof), etc, but most people if you get to know them believe what they do because they believe it is genuinely good. But increasingly politics is focused on vilifying others, instead of trying to understand each other.
Strongly agree, though is this really an unpopular take?
And what exactly are my opinions which are “vibe based”? The only opinions I have stated in this thread is that users are sharing blatant propaganda (one example of which you agreed with), and that I don’t see a reason why any non-bot would willingly spread propaganda.
The links you sent don’t have anything to do with what I’ve stated. It seems like you are trying to show me that Zelensky deserves to be hung, but this is irrelevant to my statement that claiming “he will be hung by his countrymen” is propaganda.
For example I might have sources as to why I think Putin should be hung, but if I went around saying that Putin will be hung by his countrymen it would be implying that he is hated by Russians, which is an outright lie and propaganda.
I’m not sure why you are misconstruing my message, I said explicitly that criticising Zelenksy is not propaganda. Once again, propaganda is when you blatantly ignore reality in an attempt to give Zelenksy (or anyone) a “bad rap”.
Implying that Zelenksy has little support from Ukrainians by claiming he will be hung by his countrymen is blatantly ignoring the statistical truth that a good majority of Ukrainians support him.
Stating that Zelenksy is the sole reason for Ukraine’s destruction is blatantly ignoring the historical truth that Russia invaded Ukraine.
Please explain to me how these are “vibe based”
I did not even reply to you, I replied to another comment which has been since deleted, and was referring to comments across this whole comment section. (Eg: “when his countrymen hang him”, or “this scumbag is responsible for destroying the country”)
Spamming russian bot
You can check my comment history, I am fairly sure that is the first time I have ever referred to a user as a Russian bot. Hardly spamming.
I disagree with your original comment mostly because of the phrasing, because I think it implies that the only reason for Ukraine to be fighting was for NATO membership (as opposed to defending their home from invaders) but your clarification about Ukraine being stuck between two evils I can agree with, or at least find reasonable.
Edit: added examples above
I can’t prove any user are bots, though that is my opinion because I can’t comprehend any other reason for their behaviour. And the blind propaganda is all the messages framing Zelensky as the cause of Ukraine’s destruction while willfully ignoring Russia’s huge involvement, or comments trying to imply he is hated by most Ukrainians (despite his approval rating being well over 50%).
To be clear, being critical of Zelensky is not propaganda, but willfully ignoring data and historical events for the sole benefit of Russia is.
Protests are definitely meant to be noticed, and should also make you think. Ideally they should also be attractive for others to join, allowing the protest to gain momentum. But being annoying (at least to regular people) seems counter productive to that? Sometimes it is unavoidable, but I don’t think it should be desired.
Of course being annoying to the body being protested against is definitely desired.
