I stopped here last year while road tripping. I was honestly surprised at how many people were there on a weekday in April. It was still hot as balls then too. I ended up mostly sifting at the water troughs because they are under roofs. I think someone did find a diamond that day, but I only came away with about a quart of interesting rocks for my rock tumbler.

If you go, go with someone who would be really into it as well. I dragged my hubby there and he was miserable but tolerated it for a while for my sake.

This started me wondering why megafauna was extra-mega, like those bison, or wooly mammoths… could it be the ice age climate? Like how humans in say Scandinavia are larger because it’s more advantageous in a cold climate?

And will humans start to grow smaller as the earth heats up, or are we offsetting that with our improved childhood nutrition and modern healthcare?

I think it’s mostly crabgrass lol. I let the yard mostly do what it wants to, but I keep it trimmed to not encourage rodents. It could have some actual St. Augustine and Bermuda mixed in. It’s also got wild strawberries, clover, ground ivy, carpet weed and other neat colorful weeds that I actually kind of like. The yard is too damn big to do battle with weeds and maintain a monoculture of HOA darling Kentucky bluegrass, so when you can’t beat 'em, join 'em.

I repurposed a pharmacy pill bottle. I’m afraid of dropping a nicer container when I’m depositing new whiskers, sending all the whiskers flying. So, little plastic tube with a lid. Thanks, anxiety. 🙄

Also TIL, Tritan was developed by Eastman Chemical, the HQ of which is in a town not far from where I grew up. Old stomping grounds and the like. Good God if the wind was blowing the wrong way, the chemical factory would stink up the entire town. It didn’t help there used to also be a paper pulp Mead plant there too, but Eastman was the biggest stinker.

I had one of mine do the “who the hell are you?!” stranger danger hissing after the other had a vet visit. It can last hours or days. Mine lasted days. They both go together now whether one doesn’t need to or not.

That could be more your detergent than the machine. If you use Dawn Platinum, that stuff removed the screen print ink off my pub glasses. That’s how they can say you don’t have to prerinse with it. Because it’s just dissolving everything indiscriminately. It sure got the dishes squeaky clean, I’ll give it that.

I’ve switched back to basic Palmolive detergent.
