Not_mikey@slrpnk.netto Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•"I could lose my home" says CEO exploiting cheap labor.3·8 days agoYeah but the only reason those supplies and services aren’t available in the US is because China has all the manufacturing scale. It’s not as if China is the only country that can make silicone.
If trump keeps to these tarrifs and importing silicone becomes too expensive then someone will open a factory to produce it here. Same with small scale molding. If there is truly a demand for something the market will find a way to produce it.
It may be more expensive because of higher labor standards, wages and environmental standards, but that just means it’s getting closer to the true cost of the product, instead of the one subsidized by environmental destruction and labor exploitation.

Unless you have a pretty wide sub list it’s usually better if you do it for everything/all, eg. https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/?dataType=Post&listingType=All&sort=TopSixHour . Otherwise top 12 hour or top day is usually good
If you’re used to secondhand smoke they don’t smell bad, even good because of the slight nicotine buzz, and I assume everyone in that country is used to secondhand smoke.
Or molly, all of these fucks could stand to learn some empathy.

Not a big fan of any of those three either so yeah, fuck em. Would be better if we banned all commercial social media but I’m not gonna cry over only some of them getting banned.

Don’t worry, won’t be working there much longer once the tarrifs cause staglfation and trump fires you for not cutting rates and replaces you with elons master of coin.
but there’s crazy people on the subway
You don’t think there’s crazy people on the highway? And on the highway they’re controlling a 2 ton killing machine in a sometimes stressful situation.
I’ll take the crazy guy yelling in the corner of the subway then see what he’s like behind the wheel of one of those huge pickup trucks during traffic.

By tracing how Claude generated rhyming couplets, Anthropic found that it chose the rhyming word at the end of verses first, then filled in the rest of the line.
If the llm already knows the full sentence it’s going to output from the first word it “guesses” I wonder if you could short circuit it and say just give the full sentence instead of doing a cycle for each word of the sentence, could maybe cut down on llm energy costs.

Otherwise chatgpt would be getting basic arithmetic wrong a lot more considering the methods the article has shown it’s using.

Not_mikey@slrpnk.netto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•In the US, there is a 1 in 93 chance you will die in a motor vehicle crash in your lifetimeEnglish1·3 months agoIt’s system dependent but yeah, I’m not gonna argue that metro cars are always the most sanitary.
As for someone scaring you, I’d say that’s a feature not a bug of the metro. It’s not like there are less crazy or dangerous people driving then on the metro, it’s just you don’t see them. If someone’s yelling slurs and nonsense on the metro you can hear / see that and change cars like you said. If they’re doing that in a car there’s no way for you to know about it and avoid them. Maybe you notice them driving eradically but your focused on so many other things it’s easy for it to go under your radar.
Also on the metro that crazy person may have a weapon but on the road it’s guaranteed that that person is in control of a vehicle that can kill dozens of people with a turn of a wheel or the press of a pedal.

But every suburbanite i know says the metro is too dangerous and that you’re likely to get stabbed by a methed up homeless man.
That claim is heresy and you could be burned at the stake for spreading those lies
Small capital is still capital and relies on labor exploitation. If your talking about manufacturing wages globally then you should be talking about that SBOs income globally too which would put them in the top 1%. If there were no labor exploitation and the revenue from the sale of the products were split evenly among the laborers the SBO would be payed far less and the manufacturing workers in China would be paid far more.
