Pretty sure they know too. They’ve simply arranged things so that they will still come out well ahead even so.
The fact that we as a species have not already collectively decide to enforce the rule that once you get to $100M you get a “YOUR DID IT” trophy and a spot on a private tropical island where you can do hookers and blow for the rest of your life while any further increases in your wealth are nationalised is proof we are, in fact, a bunch of fools.

5·8 days agoSomeone asked me a couple of weeks ago why the New Zealand Green Party’s answer to all of our problems seemed to be taxes on rich people and big corporations. I said that it was because 40 years of neoliberalism had given us an economy that balanced a rise for the 1% with a fall for the 99%, and we should start trying to address that gently and legally before the 99% remember that a guillotine is 18th Century technology and can be easily constructed in a garage.
The end of capitalism isn’t too far off, the way things are going. And it’s going to be messy as hell.


I feel like they might want to start with something a little simpler, like landing the first humans on Jupiter or making Windows 11 fly on 1024GB RAM.
