rpg@ttrpg.network•What RPG rules would you use for Brancalonia instead of D&D?
2·9 hours agoCortex Prime. Extremely hackable, nearly impossible to break. Powerful to reinforce flavor with mechanics (which is what I think you’re going after). Simple mechanics (if you don’t go ham with the Mods).

1·11 hours agoAlso might want to consider having 2 referees. The party will split, and this would keep things moving.

1·11 hours agoMark of the Odd games (Into the Odd, Mausritter, Into the Bronze, etc.). Extremely fast character creation, the rules so light they’re almost not there, very few rolls, very deadly rolls.

RPG@lemmy.ml•What's your opinion on fixed damage vs rolling for damage?English
2·5 months agoNeither. Thee amount of shifts above defense determine stress or consequence.
Or the effect die will determine the consequence.

Now what would be awesome is a small RPG-specific model that can be more easily self hosted.

2·6 months agoI had fun with my yungun with Argyle and Crew, a kid focused RPG where you create sock puppets as characters.
So regular kids don’t get to be safe? Oof.

rpg@ttrpg.network•TTRPGs that have a "small fish in a big pond" feel?
2·10 months ago[email protected] and other [email protected] games often feature that.
Bulldogs is a great narrative game on Fate with that vibe.

3·10 months agoI’m down for some sci-fi. I just don’t have appetite for fantasy. Roll20 has listings for many systems, there’s discord, there’s startplaying.games for paid GMs.

Of course. What is sambal, just in case there’s someone in the audience that doesn’t know it?
I have no experience with this specific setting, but I’ve played SW quite a bit. I think it would be pretty straightforward to adapt it to FATE, and with a little extra effort but a better result to Cortex Prime.
