4 days agoWe’re using graphene! Almost entirely for it’s electrical properties true, but we’re using graphene doped batteries in consumer electronics currently. We also use fusion and ITER research for a whole lot more than just power generation - plasma dynamics, just one tiny subfield concerned with physics, has applications in everything from radio transmission beam forming techniques to satellite engines to magnetodynamic modeling to the EMI shielding on your vacuum cleaner.
Yeah but not… really. They could all circumvent this easily enough (mailing you bits of your family until you give them the password is a classic technique), this just weakens their own or ally countries with no benefit to them directly. Anyone who they actually want access to is going to be using encryption some other way now, so really this just makes their job more of a pain in the ass.
