  • Its actually a high drama distro, they push new changes before many other distros. For instance they were one of the first to go to Wayland by default and there is an upcoming vote to remove 32bit stuff In the next release, which would make it so steam only works as a flatpak because steam on Linux is 32bit

Fedora is my distro of choice also

  • I don’t like how people continue to use pepe to signify the right, I have literally never seen someone use pepe as a right wing hate symbol or whatever the fuck and even if they do I don’t give a shit, pepe did nothing wrong.

“(Pepe) he currently remains one of the most popular memes in the world”

Free Pepe! The most popular meme in the world is not a hate symbol unless you want it to be one, and I say it defintely isn’t.

“In an interview with Esquire, Furie (creator of pepe) said of Pepe’s usage as a hate symbol, “It sucks, but I can’t control it more than anyone can control frogs on the Internet”.[39] Fantagraphics Books, Furie’s publisher, issued a statement condemning the “illegal and repulsive appropriations of the character”.[40] The Anti-Defamation League, an American organization opposed to antisemitism, included Pepe in its hate symbol database but wrote that most instances of Pepe were not used in a hate-related context.” - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepe_the_Frog

You are under the impression that the majority of the population uses image generation for profit. No. Anecdotically, it seems like the average population in my experience is sort of fond of image generation and I think the vast, vast majority of it is done by people who just want to make an image for themselves personally, and no they would have never paid anyone

  • You act like Apple doesn’t collect an absolute massive amount of data on every one of their devices and users. Sure it’s done In a more clandestine way than Google but they still do.

With Google I can run a security focused ROM like GrapheneOS and have virtually no data collection on my device, while with apple black boxes you will enjoy the illusion of data privacy and be happy about it.

I know installing custom ROMs is not standard user behaviour and I will concede that in many instances apple is better than stock android for privacy /security, but the way you framed your argument erked me because you cant say or prove anything with their closed source black boxes. Apple aren’t good people, they are anti consumer and exist to make money. Of course they collect data.

The thing is people who generate images likely never would do “real art” by hand anyway. They are two different categories of people doing completely different things. They can both do their own thing, it’s not as big of a deal as many of you make it out to be.

  • I see a few people keep saying that, but how so? What has he done that’s neo Nazis like? Not that I follow the guy or what he does so I may be missing things but the only controversy I can remember that could be considered Nazis like was when he paid some fiver people to make a video saying death to all Jews.

Now I get how that could be considered Nazi like but he said it was a joke and to show that people will do anything for money, and I believe him and thought the joke was funny. So I guess I’m a neo nazi too if that’s it. Obviously it’s a “bad” joke but but it was shocking in a funny way, atleast to me at the time. Given you’re from hexbear I figured you’d find it funny too

  • The difference between SPF 60 and 100 is like 1.1% better UV blocking, anything over SPF 50 is in a practical sense nearly useless.

For instance SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays, is it worth paying more and slathering more potentially harmful (to the environment) compounds on your skin for 98% blocking? I think not.
