  • It’s entirely a modern, “developed” world phenomenon where everything in the world is sexualized to the point that you can’t use the bathroom or shower around other people without feeling weird. That weird feeling is real, and you can’t just hand-wave it away, but it’s socially constructed. I think we should all remember that. There are currently and have been many times and places where people just don’t care nearly as much about each other’s bodies or being seen by others.

When you really think about it, it’s absolutely crazy. We have been wearing clothing for less than the last 100,000 years or so. A blink of an eye evolutionarily. And that was just cold environments. Before that, we had a 4.1-billion year unbroken chain of successful life that as far as we know, never wore clothes or felt shame going to the bathroom.

  • Most people don’t give a shit. Literally or figuratively.

30% of America represents the majority. Out of that 30%, most are just going along with whatever because they’re dumb and watch media that validates their fears but if the story changed tomorrow they would let it go.

The remaining sliver of this group are the true fucking nutcases who post this kind of stuff like in OP’s image because they really do believe it. Because they are dumber than shit, they don’t think with language, they react to feelings and let their autopilot fill in the blanks and appear functional in society.

They are the absolute loudest and most energetic of every segment, and as such they get seen the most and influence the most people.

This is a broken system and we need help.

  • I will not guide you how easy and fast it is to submit disputes, because you seem to think this is contentious and as such you will resist knowledge I share now out of spite, because you’re a human on the internet. But if you’re spending more (or less) than a few minutes a month going through the charges, you either don’t need to or don’t care or never learned. Look into it if you care.

Otherwise, I’m done trying to argue the basic point that “it’s not a big deal to leave the AC reset in a chain hotel” like i’m advocating for Unibomber-level anti establishment actions, you do you.

  • Usually these employee screening systems are implemented by completely out-of-touch CEO’s and upper management who want to seem like they’re still taking “bold action” and such during their endless meetings.

I was supposed to use a really convoluted and stupid personality profile screening system to determine who would be best fits to hire for my team. I ignored it entirely, just had a lot of interviews and got to know the people. After making my decisions, I got called in for choosing candidates that “didn’t fit the personality profile for the position” and I said I would take full responsibility if something went wrong.

The people I hired lasted there longer than me, a couple got promoted.

  • Whoever is trying to collect on it, unless they have a posted sign to not tamper with the AC controls, with a description of the fines/fees, AND they have a way of proving I was the one who did it, I wouldn’t hesitate to dispute a charge like that. Because I’ve done it a dozen times on small BS charges from companies large and small and 90% of the time the collection or credit hit were successfully dismissed.

Pro-tip on both staying in a hotel or renting an apartment: take a video tour real fast on your way in and out. It’s one thing to dispute something harmless you did do, it’s quite another disputing actual damages that someone else did. If nothing else you get a little vacation clip to remember your stay.

  • I’ve been using a cartoonish profile picture for my work emails, teams portrait and other communications for many years. There is almost no way to tell that kind of icon apart from AI generated icons at that size anyway.

And even if it was, that’s not the point of the conversation. Fixating on that is such bad faith it betrays a defensiveness about AI generated content, so it’s particularly important that someone like you get this message, let me reiterate clearly:

I have a role of responsibility, I hire people and use company budget to make decisions on other companies and products we’ll be paying for. When making these decisions I don’t look at the email signatures of people or the icons they use. I look at their presentation materials and if that shit is AI generated I know immediately it’s just a couple people pretending to be an agency or company, or some company that doesn’t quality-control their slides and presentation decks. It shows laziness. I would rather go with a company that has data and specs rather than lean on graphics anyway. So if those graphics are also lazy AF that’s a hard pass. Not my first rodeo, I’ve learned to listen to experience.

You’re not getting well-received here, it’s worth thinking about. Part of growing up and affecting change is acknowledging that you’re also not perfect and you have your own biases that are going to prevent you from communicating your stances effectively and cause you to argue from a place of personal animosity than any wider social good.

When you learn how to argue against your own positions from someone else’s perspective, you will learn how to actually get people to listen to you.

If instead of that, you call anyone who has a different position a “sociopath” it just reeks of someone who can’t get out of their own traumas and emotional reactions enough to actually get people to empathize. Which is sad, but it’s not working.

    Go work on yourself.

I am going to do just that, by blocking you and letting you not fume about one dude on the internet who thinks you’re kinda dumb.

  • I also appreciate the restoration of our ozone layer. I remember there was a time (when above a certain latitude at least) my skin would fucking burn in less than 5 minutes under direct sun, it’s a lot better now but it seems weird we all just kind of collectively forgot about that time when we all nearly ended the world to such a degree that we could feel it outside, then we all reversed course and fixed it mostly.

I wonder if we would be more motivated to fix our current issues if they caused skin burns.

Foreign inflammation of existing sexism and gendered issues on social media has made it so men and women are afraid to be in the same room with each other, leaving behind only the absolute morons on both sides to represent gendered relationships broadly. People aren’t even dating anymore, loneliness on both sides is becoming a lethal epidemic, human relationships are falling and people are suffering for it on a huge scale.

Where once people would have compromised and men and women would have formed relationships understanding each other, we’re now so high-strung that any slight is considered “harassment” or “feminist woke ideology” (whatever they call it on the other side) and everyone is starting to hate each other just for being different from themselves.

Welcome to part of that machine, you’re a member of the club destroying us all, just as bad as the orcs on the right who think you’re trying to take something away from them. Screeching in all caps about being harassed by some general “male presence” just paints a stereotype that I really wish advocates would abandon because all it’s doing is making the division worse and creating harder lines that people won’t cross to understand each other.

  • Can’t tell if the pic is AI or not, but your point stands and applies to a much larger issue with the slop being generated at a death-spiral pace across the internet.

Most of the people trying to replicate “stock photos” on the cheap have no clue what the subject is about or how it should look, so if some South Tanzanian family decide to make a few bucks pumping out content with help of their local internet cafe, they can generate the most professional pictures of people doing all kinds of activities. Pictures which get picked up by someone else somewhere else who is trying to make a guide or informational content, again for a few fast bucks. And this story repeats at all levels of human society at all levels because of capitalism. Every time, something is lost, some detail missed, some cultural context glossed over, and this is how we lose human history.

And eventually, inevitably, one way or another, humans.
