Edit: google sent me to the wrong bill, this is in committee. Apparently when I searched for new crypto law text, google thought I wanted bills written by high schoolers about crypto.
https://www.congress.gov/119/bills/s954/BILLS-119s954is.pdf
So I decided to read this bill to work my way through all the FUD and report back, and I can say with some confidence this bill was written by old people with no idea what bitcoin does, and 20-year-olds who think language is substance. Here are some gems:
The facilities to hold the bitcoin need to be spread around in secure places, to prevent theft. Of a digital currency. They literally un-memed “the files are in the computer.”
It does state that Bitcoin is a currency and it shows stability, comparing it to gold. So a point for the fears it legitimizes a very unstable digital currency held by a number of anonymous large stakeholder that can push price.
Terminology vaguely describes vague terms. They define terms poorly, which opens the door to later confusion and argument what they mean. “Fork” I especially call out; I read legal documents and I wouldn’t sign this without clarifications.
The government is buying a million coins over 5 years, then they are permitted to sell 10% a year. So they just backstopped bitcoin.
They are paying for it (in part) by making banks hand in their gold certificates, having them revalued, and making banks pay the difference. Banks will Not like this. I wonder if they’ll refuse the new certificates.
This is a very short bill, give it a read. This is very poorly written and thought out in my opinion, but spot on for the current government. It will, however, greatly stabilize and increase bitcoin prices.
They’re going to speak Chinese on Mars because of this president.
You can see it in his eyes as he’s about to say it… both the inevitable use on the Daily Show and the desire to strangle his speechwriter.
And then a brick wall fell on that guy and his sister in Tahiti.
Fiction Accomplished.
Also only good for ground travel. But you have to go through the same process as a passport, so they’re usually an add on to the passport.
I’m only in mid-six figures and I’ll admit I benefit and the poor suffer. If there was no immigrant labor general goods would cost more, and I’d feel the drag paying more for what is cheaper… like I will soon when we’re all competing with dollars for a share if smaller harvests. I predict we’ll feel it hard around thanksgiving.
The only solutions locally are discovery of more economic ways to produce, or importing from cheaper parts of the world. We’ve been covering our eyes on where the chicken comes from for years, and we’re going to learn a hard lesson by going cold turkey.
One thing trump is really good at is playing people off each other. The man has a learning disability and is under-educated, but only a fool denies his savvy. He accepted vance knowing he couldn’t hold a coalition of the stupid and greedy, and if trump falls, they all fall to infighting unless there’s a dark horse I’m not seeing.
What’s an ear worth, just asking with no intent or plan, just want to know what that guy managed.
I have a friend who’s looking at developing a series on new DM’s entering Daggerheart. I’m really curious to see how the game waxes while Hasbro seems intent on making 5e wane.
I personally really enjoy 5e for casual play, and would probably play Pathfinder with a great roleplaying party. Not sure about Daggerheart, but curious if it grows on me. Hasbro seems intent on forcing D&D into a subscription model, and the CR people have a real opening here.
I’m not saying anyone here wants to fight a y number of 8-year-olds, but how many do you feel he could take?
They’re just having the deaths they voted for, Chuck.
Also if Barron doesn’t bring a cute girl home for Thanksgiving, 45% tariff on the EU. Get on it, Barron!
Get him Hokas, tell him that’s what the rich actually wear.
More of a slow collapse than a crash. Ever seen a dilapidated house on a country road, parts of the roof caving in, paint chipped, vines covering the yard? We’re working on being that house by slowly letting social and physical infrastructure in the US collapse over time.
Have the death you voted for.
Amtrak doesn’t own the rail line in most areas, so the trains are regularly halted to allow commercial cargo to pass. I think the Zepher is last to its destination most of the time.
Knowing america has written you off is disheartening, but at least you have your fellow texans to rally together.
