A lot of people are decrying this number as being too low because it’s been common knowledge for a while that about 10% of the general population is LGBTQ. I think that’s a really negative way to look at the poll. Instead, realize that we’re finally at a point where nearly every LGBTQ American is comfortable enough with their sexual identity to report it on a poll. That’s a huge milestone for de-stigmatizing the LGBTQ community! Shame it’s happening at such a scary time, and I hope these rates don’t decrease as things become worse.

How do we even get out of it? How do you reconcile the fact that Americans live in entirely separate realities to each other? I smoke a lot of pot. Probably the strangest part is how…I still have to live? I still have to go into work tomorrow, I’ve still got bills to pay. It’s like I’m just sitting here waiting for somebody to put a gun in my hands and tell me “the revolution starts now.” My local organizations are very focused on making sure people survive right now, which is a very good and noble focus to have, but I haven’t really heard of anyone planning something serious to fight back.

I mean, the American Constitution is dogshit. The people who wrote it didn’t even mean half of it, and the other half became out of date about when globalisation took off. It’s not surprising nobody wants to defend it, the U.S. Republic has been desperately, desperately overdue for a revision.

At that moment, it became clear that any contested election would be resolved by the SC in Trump’s favor, ala Bush v Gore in 2000.

Yes, and we knew this would be the outcome the second he won the election. I’m staying in the U.S. because my life is worthless anyway and I’d prefer death in glorious revolution than survival, but anyone who values their life should have started their plans to leave in August 2024 when it became obvious he was going to sieze control.

I would argue that a narcissist also has an incredibly skewed and warped sense of reality, and I would point out that their desperate need for attention can cause them to lash out in a manner consistent with schizoid-typal disorder.

Its not really fair to excuse Kanye over his schizoid-typal disorders, but then argue Musk’s mental illnesses are irrelevant. Either their mental health had nothing to do with them developing their hateful ideology, or it had everything to do with it. You can’t pick and choose. I’d point to the large swathes of people suffering from mental illness who haven’t become Nazis as evidence that it’s not as relevant as the choices these men have made are.

You can make an argument for it mattering in the first film as well, but that starts examining the film from a lense of Ash, Weyland Yutani, and the Xenomorph being metaphors for the patriarchy.

It’s hard to really blame them, public education in the U.S. has been a nightmare for decades now. How can people be expected to learn from history if they’re not even being taught to read?
