I think there will be a bot problem on lemmy.
But lemmy lets you easily search for old posts (sort after date). In these older posts, you can search for people who may still be active today.
Once an instance becomes overly infected by bot-spam other real instances might de-federate.
Do you know that feeling when you walk outside and suddenly have a random spiderweb-strain in your face? You need to wipe it out of your face with a hand. Maybe this was my spidery flying friend using electric fields to fly past my face.
this is a silly drawing request https://sopuli.xyz/c/sillydrawingrequests
anyway here goes your duck, drawn in Krita:
Random slots, where random posts (age/upvote count does not matter) are introduced and marked as such could help in such a problem without complex systems.
The proportion of these random slots could be a user-setting.
Something similar to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Random Does this exist in lemmy (backend) api?
