If you think Christianity is unique in this regard look towards Buddhism, specifically the Vajrayana branches (often associated with Tibet) and you’ll see even more gruesome imagery than any Christian symbolism. Buddhas drinking blood out of the skulls of their enemies, stomping on corpses, and having sex all at the same time, and even more shocking things. These"fearsome" or “wrathful” manifestation of Buddhist deities that display raw power and the trappings of demons to destroy said demons are relatively common. Religion is weird and powerful symbolism is often shocking.

God creates Man in His own image, and Man comes up short and disobeys God. Man creates Robot in his own image, and Robot surpasses man and disobeys him, completing the cultural cycle. Both stories are about human nature being flawed, with robot stories being about how the flawed human nature leads us to want to “become God” by creating life on our own, becoming our own Demiurge, creating a shadow of a shadow of the “Divine Image” which represents goodness and morality.
markovs_gun@lemmy.worldto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•'But What if we Made a Show Showcasing the Positives of the Torment Nexus'41·2 hours agoThe QAA podcast recently had an episode on AI generated images and right wing movements and they said something that really stuck with me- AI “art” is so popular among right wingers and barely literate tech bros because it is truly art the way they see all art, images with only surface level literal meaning and no subtext, context, or anything actually thought provoking. The dumbest thing about this is that there are several Black Mirror episodes that are ultimately hopeful or value-neutral about the effects of technology on the future- San Bernardino and Striking Vipers come to mind. Then again, both of those are about how sexuality intersects with transhumanism, which right wingers generally see as bad things so maybe they see those as dystopian episodes as well.

Do the people who insist on thanking these things also say you’re welcome to the self checkout machine at Walmart when it says “thank you for shopping at Walmart?” It’s absurd.

If all still goes through the LLM but LLM is a lot lighter because it has this sort of thing built in. That’s all a vast oversimplification.

Pew Research Polls found that 69% of people who listed their religion as “no religion” believe in God and 13% of them specifically believe in the Christian God. So if 28% of people in America list their religion as “none” and only 29%* of those people actually don’t believe in God, you’re left with only 8.7% of the population. Regardless of your personal beliefs, the numbers are really, really bad if you’re completely unwilling to work with anyone who is religious or spiritual. 8.7% of the population is a nuisance, not a movement.

Talking to an AI chatbot is not the same as human connection and will only lead to further depression as you realize that no matter how much you “love” your AI girlfriend she will never truly love you back because she can’t think or feel, and fundamentally isn’t real.

That’s sketchy as fuck” and he was like “Huh… Never noticed it before but yeah that’s messed up”

Oh you mean someone might interpret the sinister race of greedy hook nosed goblin creatures who run all of the banks as possibly being influenced by anti semitic tropes? That’s news to me!

Textual analysis suggests a “2 Q” theory where the earliest posts were mostly one author on 4chan (interestingly not all, several early drops are believed to be from different users) and then another person (who I believe wholeheartedly is 8chan administration Ron Watkins) started posting as Q and moved to 8chan. I’m interested in knowing who the earliest Q was and what the content of the very first Q drops was, given that there are believed to be several that didn’t get archived. Several people have claimed to be 4chan Q but none of their stories are particularly convincing. My guess is that it was a bunch of random trolls at first and then one of them just went with it when they started getting a following.
markovs_gun@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•4chan... A part of internet (history) for sure34·4 days agoYeah I legit think this is a bad thing. 4chan was bad for society but IMO it’s less so than mainstream social media. To get radicalized on 4chan you have to wade through some truly despicable shit right off the bat, where there is this friendly veneer on mainstream Internet that makes it seem safer and less horrifying even though the same underlying filth of human nature powers it all. If you encounter far right ideology on 4chan, it’s stripped of all of the edifices of respectability and it’s clear that what it is is raw unfiltered hatred. If you encounter it on Tik Tok it’s just another political viewpoint because they’re not allowed to show their true colors.
