He said BIRD mounts and he meant it. It is up to us to rise to the level where we too can use bird mounts.
A cranky biologist who means well. My hobbies include long walks off short piers and anything science related.

Framework laptops are not great actually. They basically are offloading their qa/qc onto customers. They routinely ship defective units new out of the box and try to make you do all their engineering work for them.
The quality of the components is meh at best. If I were doing it again, I would go the ThinkPad route.
Framework is a bunch of VC funded shills who see the right to repair movement as a resource they can exploit.
Turns out she’s a Nazi too. :(
You would do well to stop blaming ADHD and assuming you are the only one who leans that way. It is an excuse for nothing, nothing at all.
Stop doomscrolling!
If you need training wheels, then get a set. You are basically advocating that all bicycles include them by default. That’s not a mindset that I can be quiet about.
It gives more options to mods, some of whom are people thag suck very much. Curate your own list of communities, instances and users.
Then stop doomscrolling! The software is already baked into your noodle. Play with your cat instead or whatever.
I am sorry if you cannot process the current reality unfiltered but you have already identified the mechanisms to use to protect yourself.
The reason it is a dumb and abusable feature is that the word ‘politics’ is MEANINGLESS in this context.
Don’t like gay people? POLITICS! Do you like gay people? POLITICS!
A ‘politics’ tag is a tool for automating bulk censorship that YOU can and should be doing for yourself, manually. The entire point of the fediverse is that it bypasses that centralized mindset.
You decide what sort of politics give you heartburn and adjust your consumption accordingly. Outsourcing that decision making to others is morally lazy.
I’m going to pile on too.
No. Bad idea.
Crying ‘pOLiTics’ is the weak persons way of trying to steer the conversation away from topics they don’t want to talk about.
In the fediverse, if you don’t like a topic, one already has the feature they need. That is the ability to keep scrolling to find a topic one is seeking.
Quit whining about politics and avoid those groups at the party. Or do the personal work and figure out how to be a useful part of the conversation.
Don’t build your big tech bullshit into our fediverse. Curate your own communities and user blocklists.
May I offer you 3/5 of an egg in these trying times?
Sigh, I have to mention home assistant as the best way to not have your smart things phone home to the NSA/CCP joint data collection task force.
No they don’t even have the ears to listen to their own teacher.
“Look at a buncha flowers? What are you? A gay?”
And yet you could from the comfort of your own home for the same amount of effort you spent snarking.
It’s full of independently verifiable information. It lists the full names of his legal team and their firm and gives details about his location and all that.
Oh that’s the point though. Even people who don’t think they are “well-connected” are just a few hops from Kevin Bacon. Or a person who works at a bank during a banking crisis. Lots of folks know people who work at a bank.
The point is to stop stewing and start asking. Ask anyone who might know even a bit more than you on a particular thing.
Doesn’t that seem healthy?
The way it is playing out in my family has led me to have to totally reevaluate my perception of my own father.
He is a generally kind man. He stayed with my mom for two decades as she declined with Parkinson’s. He took good care of her when so many people might have ghosted.
But based on his inability to see the danger here to things he himself values, I can no longer think of him as a good man. He has always valued knowledge and reason yet he swallowed the cat-eating crap out of Ohio in spite of the clear bullshit of it.
He is Mormon and very faithful. So I don’t know what he gets out of this all, except that it has required me to grieve him before his passing.
He is not actually a good person I am afraid, but he is very obedient. Learning that distinction is very painful. He does not possess the moral clarity to know the difference between what is legal/popular and what is right.
I always idolized my dad as a child because he was in so many ways a good father. We will probably never speak again.
Yeah that Linda Carter formed me. No actual woman has come even close to the expectations she set. <sigh>
