How does it compare to OsmAnd?
The use case sounds exactly like git-annex.
As a bonus you get a system that tracks how many copies of files and where you have them.
Find out if your ISP provides an SMTP smarthost.
Worth noting that in Finland they are also by law required to log metadata of delivered mails.
