Cute, but what problem does this solve? Regardless of what you feel about any particular platform, consolidating multiple pieces of functionality into the highly integrated smartphone platform was a major step forward in mobility. This just feels like a regression.

Be highly unified, which eases software distribution. With Windows, the system software at least is from a single vendor. You’ll have differences in hardware and in versions of Windows, sure. But then compare that to Linux, where Wikipedia estimates a thousand different distros. Granted, a lot of those are member of families like Red Hat or Debian that can be supported relatively easily. However, others use more exotic setups like Alpine, NixOS, or Gentoo. Projects like Flatpak are working on distribution mechanisms, but they have their own issues. And even if you get it running, that doesn’t mean it integrates well into the desktop itself. Wayland should improve that situation, though.

One exception is one particular chef knife. Most cheap knives you get what you pay for. But there is one, the Victorinox Classic Chef Knife, that is around $30 but is competitive in comfort and sharpness with very expensive knives.

Wait, are they blaming heavy equipment manufacturers because they sell heavy equipment to Israel? That makes it a stretch to say that these companies demolished Palestinian homes. I could maybe see a case if that was all that excavation equipment was useful for, but it has a multitude of uses.

The “Anti-Evil Operations” (site-moderation, aka AEO) is very opaque and undermines the autonomy of individual subreddits. In /r/moderatepolitics, we finally just banned discussion of trans issues altogether because AEO had their thumb on the scale. I definitely come down on the pro-trans side, but it’s impossible to talk to someone on the other side of the issue when they have to avoid violating broad and poorly defined rules. The responses from inquiries has been basically non-existent, and this is for a fairly sizeable subreddit (250k subscribers).
