True, but Keanu Reeves started being an icon in the 80s, at least, but I really meant the game had real people in it. Not just voice acting (e.g. V doesn’t necessarily look like Cherami Leigh), but the character looks like the well known actor. It’s a line I don’t think gaming crossed before, to that level.
Look at David Cage Games. Very different genre, and not always good or fun (Cage is a bit too full of himself), but e.g. Beyond: Two Souls had Elliot Page and Willem Dafoe years before Cyberpunk 2077.
I’ll have to look into that. I have a PS3, but I almost never play it… which is a shame, because I liked it, and PS3/360 was my favourite generation of console. Those games are still good, it’s just, on the Xbox side, I can play them on my Series X and they play better. Beyond: Two Souls looks like it was PlayStation exclusive (and Windows, but I’m a Mac user, so no dice there), so maybe I can pick up the PS3 version somewhere. Assuming the thing still works. It hasn’t been turned on in probably 2-3 years. But PlayStations are beasts, at least the old ones (never had a PS4 or PS5).
Didn’t mean to imply that Cyberpunk 2077 was the first video game to mocap real actors. Just the first one I recall, and that on top of its other technical accomplishments. Also, Elliot Page has always been cool (I’ve only seen him in a few things, like Hard Candy) and he’s a pretty good actor… but Keanu Reeves is kinda a whole other level. Plus, he’s playing a villain (sort of). So it was still kinda shocking and novel.
Always enjoyed the PS3 for its stupid system architecture. Just recently gave mine away to a friend. I assume it should be pretty doable, getting a used copy. I tend to see ps3 discs floating around on ebay for under 10€.
Cyberpunk 2077. Video game with Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba basically as themselves, and just the whole scope of the game. And the graphics.
