Trump has been ignoring the courts this whole time.
If a shutdown would leave dismantling of the government up to the courts then that sounds like exactly what Trump wants.

You’re right. The GOP wants to blame the democrats for the economy and dismantle the government at the same time.
A government shutdown would let them do both.
That’s probably why the bad actors on lemmy are pushing for a shutdown.
It is stupid to threaten the GOP with a shutdown.
The GOP is already trying to dismantle the government. A shutdown would just help them do it faster.
The GOP is actively dismantling the government. Why would they care about a government shutdown?
Seems stupid to try to threaten them with one.
“This never would have happened if you voted for Harris or Gencide Joe”
This is the result of not voting for Harris because of “genocide Joe”.
You can’t save someone from themself.
Yeah, it looks like brigading. It’s the same taking points repeated in posts like these that are reposted across multiple instances.
A literal fascist is dismantling the US government right now to make himself king.
This is happening because there was enough criticism for the alternative to get Trump elected.
There was enough criticism of democrats to get Trump and his cronies into office twice and now there may be no more elections.
There are no criticisms that are worth getting Trump elected.
Every little nitpick is just anther talking point to be amplified by foreign bots and GOP propaganda.
They aren’t warning us. Trying reading more than the headline.
As a party, democrats have voted against all of Trumps cabinet picks.
Blaming “Senate Democrats” for the votes of outliers like Fetterman who vote against party lines is disingenuous.
The article is about Trump ignoring the law. How do they change that by doing the things you listed?
The dems criticizing republicans aren’t their voter base. The republican voter base doesn’t criticize republicans.
Why does that need to be explained to you?
There was so much criticism of anti-fascists that actual authoritarian fascists won the election.
Criticism isn’t just criticism. It is used by bots and propaganda to discourage voting for anti-fascists.
The complaint is that there is a power grab that democrats aren’t stopping because they can’t. They don’t have enough votes.
If that power grab happens tomorrow instead of today then the complaint happens tomorrow instead of today.
This is common sense. I’m not sure why it needs to be explained to you.
We’re tired of your bad faith arguments.
You… you don’t know the difference between electing cabinet members and taking meds?
Your bad faith lacks nuance
This is the same excuse I’ve heard every time I point out that dems don’t have enough votes to do something.
When I ask when dems had a majority they point to Manchin or Sinema or Lieberman as their example of a dem majority proving they are arguing in bad faith and/or don’t understand what a supermajority is.
Meanwhile republicans don’t even criticize their own for committing crimes so they continue to win elections.
But I want to criticize democrats until republicans win elections and then criticize democrats for not doing the things I prevented them from doing…
The GOP is actively trying to dismantle the government.
A government shutdown is in itself a method of dismantling the government.
It’s literally giving the GOP what they want.
That’s not topsy turvy logic. That’s common sense.
