I got my reservation in about a minute after they opened the second round and I got my “preparing to ship” email yesterday so things are moving there, hope you get it soon

I was lucky and got one in the initial round. But if you have a Deck, it’s just the same controls in a smaller package so it’s not going to blow your mind. Unless you badly need those trackpads and gyro, it’s probably not going to change your gaming habits much versus an Xbox controller. In other words I love mine, but the novelty wore off fast, now it’s mostly just another solid gamepad with extra customization for Steam native titles.

Funny you say that- my old 360 controller started squeaking about a month ago.

I have 2 of the original steam controllers that I love but got suckered in to leaving them for my nephews to use, with my steam deck and dock, at my parent’s home.

The new SC is definitely a clear upgrade from both the old one and a standard 360 pad. I’d say it’s almost on par with the Elite 2 (as it should be for the price) so if you don’t have one of those you’ll probably be quite happy. Cheers.

Fuck, I cannot wait. I know they’re going to be hella expensive, but I have been waiting for a viable VR system ever since my Quest 2 became bloated with Meta’s bullshit bloat. I can’t even turn the thing on anymore because the home menu has to load Zuck’s stupid metaverse in its entirety before I can even think about booting a game up.

I have an oculus quest 1 and I am still salty that it doesn’t get any updates anymore and that its bootloader is locked. It was very expensive. On the other hand my steam link which is discontinued got updates for a very very long time. Heck it might still get some.

The whole unknown sources thing was also highly unpleasant.

Fingers crossed Lepton releases with Nvidia support or at least some easy virgl script.
