Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL getting married young during the European Medieval times was rare.English
2·14 days agoI remember I was surprised about that when doing my family tree. I didn’t get to middle ages but even in 1700 - 1800, the common age of my ancestors when they got married was 22 - 23 for women and 25 - 26 for men. I expected much younger ages, like 18 - 19.
Note that all my ancestors were farmers or workers from rural Slavic part of the world so don’t imagine it like 1800 London or something
Ahhh Americans and their weeks starting with Sunday …
This is why I find UBI to be naive. At least in the current system
Edit: Actually in any current system when I think about it. Let’s take China or North Korea. If they’d invent robots that can do all the manual jobs, do you think that they’d just let all their citizens to sit on their asses and be fed like a livestock? In a world where every country tries to one-up every other country? And they keep like 1 billion of workforce just sit on their ass?
And you still want to claim the nature isn’t perfectly designed? Checkmate atheists!

Hmm I’d say the comic could use also that - a pumped up guy with big chest, wearing an exposing shirt and then being angry at people staring at his chest

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The Fediverse and Content Creation: MonetizationEnglish
14·2 months agoMaybe it’s just nostalgia but in my opinion, with youtube it went all to shit the moment the money started to be involved. Algorithm chasing, advertisement, reactive content, sponsors, quickly generated videos, … and all the other shit.
So if monetization, then let’s try to avoid same mistakes

No, what you experienced is called apophenia - you see connections between things that are unrelated. Your friend is fine

Wait so Richard isn’t his direct ancestor? Just that Richard’s great-great grandparents are the same as Cumberbatch’ great-…-great grandparents. Do I understand it right?
