Makes sense. They should make cars that don’t spontaneously combust.
Tesla had to create the own insurance because many companies and states won’t insure the cyber truck.
Now this kind of thing could actually be the downfall of Tesla. Good job people!
Guarantee the payouts dive as well, given falling market values.
I assume people wear masks when doing it because of the monitoring cameras on Teslas
The same cameras that drove one into a painting of a road? Only the best imaging.
Some higher being observing Earth from a far distance must be intrigued by the pattern recognition of us destroying one specific car while completely ignoring the thousands of others.
Like, imagine when we look at single-cell organisms and see them swarm something. We’d never apply any kind of nuanced interpersonal/sociopolitical reasons to be the cause.
The immune system reacting to a threat
Yea, colonialism/imperialism share a lot of characteristics with parasites.
Same pattern of white blood cells recognizing a pathogen. Search and destroy
Precisely. Makes you wonder what sociopolitical shit some amoeba are dealing with at the moment lol

Hahahahahahahaha
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
This is fucking hilarious.
It turns out, property damage can solve a problem
When it is targeted, not just smashing every window on some small business you happen to see.
Could the Americans be figuring out how to protest properly?
I wouldn’t say this is properly, but at least they’re finally starting to protest. This is teething while they figure it out.
Fire hot
I won’t be the one to indulge in vandalism but i do want the company to fold… higher price of ownership is part of the decision process for prospective buyers… let’s just say i won’t judge those that do choose the dark side!
I used to work in insurance. This might actually be the biggest blow to Testla, even more than stock prices. If people keep vandalizing the vehicles, eventually the insurance has to come due. And repair costs are not cheap, its basically only dealers and a limited number of repair places that partner.
And insurance companies always make sure they get their money.
What kinds of vandalism are most costly to repair, without endangering the lives of drivers, passengers and people nearby? I want to see if those are mentioned in future news coverage.
Rip off a sidepanel. Not even the smartest people on space x can fit a new one.
IIRC, if one or two tires, or all four tires are damaged, insurance will cover it. But insurance won’t cover three tires being damaged if I understand correctly. So slash three tires per car.
It’s better when insurance covers it
I wouldn’t go after individual Tesla owners. It wasn’t always like this. They adopted the earliest and cheapest (in the US) EV. I won’t buy one now, but I would have three years ago.
I understand the dealership thing. Are most of them directly corporate?
I had thought they were all corporate. Does tesla have non Tesla owned dealerships?
They don’t do third party dealerships. All showrooms & service centers are owned by them.
Paint probably.
Also I would never support anything illegal. As the law requires.
Like, painting a Cybertruck?
Its not vandalism, its just courtesy. The poor machine didn’t come with any.
some of the stickers you can easily find end up ruining the finish.
the more you know
I sure love bologna
Well, a 1:1 mixture of chlorine bleach and vinegar should damn near instantly and permanently corrode the steel. Don’t breathe the fumes, but I have toyed with the idea of a squirt gun filled with instarust.
DO NOT MIX BLEACH AND CHLORINE, unless you want die or seriously injure yourself. When bleach is combined with acetic acid it produces chlorine gas, a literal chemical weapon/warcrime. If you want to corrode stainless steel use regular bleach, it does the job just fine.
“Don’t breathe the fumes” seems like a bit of an understatement for a reaction that produces chlorine gas.
That, and it doesn’t sound great to put in a squirt gun, which is almost certainly going to leak to some degree
If you are using household concentrations you won’t generate enough chlorine gas to be harmful in a ventilated area, like outside. If you put it in a bag and huff it you are going to have a bad time, but enough to cause damage can be tossed into a mason jar, shaken, and thrown pretty safely.
So dual wielded super soakers, one bleach filled, one vinegar filled!
Excellent idea
Sounds like fun
Hell, just bleach alone will eat through stainless steel!
The acid makes it rust in seconds instead of days though, instantly visible and quite permanent damage.
Days might actually be better. If they go to work and come back to it rusted all over, they will know it was a malicious action. If they start to see rust the next day and see it slowly progress, it might be hard to trace back to someone.
Overnight, bologna can do some serious damage to paint, not sure what it might do to untreated aluminum.
Like others said, paint is expensive AF, but also the classic “Slash 3 tires” is expensive
Extra expensive because Tesla’s (Well, EVs in general I’m pretty sure) need special and more expensive tires due to the weight
My leaf uses normal tires.
Don’t lose sight that you are committing a crime, you are destroying an innocent persons property, and you really have no excuses if caught by either the owner or the police
Nobody who’s bought a Tesla in the past few years is “innocent.”
Poor innocent demagogue* supporters :(.
*Back then
Surely some are un-soId.
Are tires usually covered by insurance?
My ex girlfriend had everything insured on her car. Even tires. Kinda crazy if you ask me.
Only when all 4 are damaged, for reasons lol
Hence the “slash 3” rule lmao
I don’t believe this. And if it is the case I would just slash my 4th before make a claim. Stupid.
It’s not true, I worked at auto insurance companies.
There are cases where it is the case, but it’s rare.
Ah, but I thought the point of this thread was to keep the insurance pain building, so if we want higher premiums, should it be slash all 4 so they can claim it and wreck their rates?
Oh yea you’re right lmao, def need to slash all 4 for that lolol
For legal reasons, this is a joke
I thought that you need to replace every tire on EV’s when you damage one.
It’s general guidance for any vehicle, but it’s not a requirement
It’s just for proper wear leveling and balance for a smoother ride
Nope, that’s only for all wheel drive cars with combustion engines
Tiny water balloons filled with brake fluid.
I want to see if those are mentioned in future news coverage.
In Minecraft, right?

So it’s actually working!
That makes it more expensive to own a Tesla, and that’s one more thing that will make it less attractive to buy, either new or used.
It’s debatable whether this is fair, but clearly it achieves a political goal. It’s debatable whether this is fair, but clearly it achieves a political goal.
I’d be real careful cheering vandalism / destruction of private property because you believe it achieves a political goal you agree with; eventually others will start doing do the same thing to further political goals that they agree with.
Isn’t that what they are already doing?
With no regard for how it harms others!Yea. This isn’t being started on the left. It’s being emulated.
I’m struggling to come up with any examples that parallel what’s happening with Teslas.
You’re not a serious person
You can’t think of a single example of conservatives destroying property for a political goal? Not one??
I can think of many many lives that the Nazi Reigime of America have destroyed. And lives are far more important than property.
The cars can burn.
This is happening all over the United States sometimes multiple times per day and being publicly celebrated in various places. I honestly can’t think of a conservative oriented example of private property destruction on this scale to this much cheering.
Awe, fuck your feelings.
to this much cheering
You’re not going to find this because no one is cheering for white supremacists trying to knock out the power grid because they think it will start a race war.
- Breaking into the capitol building during a presidential certification of votes the people made in an attempt to subvert the will of the people with their coup, with plans to kidnap and kill certain democratic leaders that went against the will of trump.
- Attempting to run Biden’s campaign vehicles off the road in Texas which was done primarily by off duty police and deputies.
- Going to BLM protests so they can intentionally shoot protestors and black people
- Blocking all entrances and exits from Canada to the US to protest the Biden-era COVID-19 mandates which caused billions of dollars in damage
- I’ve personally had my car vandalized when I had a Biden sticker on it, someone put an “INFOWARS” sticker over it and keyed the back quarter panel/trunk
- etc.
That’s completely different, those are damaging people, not property. You’re allowed to attack people to protect property, you are not allowed to damage property to protect people.
After all, I own property, but I am not the type of people getting attacked.
/s
Got another one for your list:
- bombing, shooting, and committing arson against abortion clinics and doctors
I think you are right that this Tesla boycott is unique, nothing I can remember is even close.
And what I remember goes back to the 80’s, with the Shell boycott because they supported apartheid in South Africa. That boycott was a huge deal back then. Where there was (light) vandalism, for instance removing the S from their signs, so they said hell. But now with Tesla, it’s a completely different league in scope and consequences. Nice to see that there is a line also for ordinary sane people. Because this is definitely a response against the insanity of fascism.
I have absolutely no issues with the boycott. Elon the Idiot is learning the same lesson that the Ultra Wealthy of the 1920s did; getting publicly involved with politics can cost you a LOT of money. Bezos and Zuckerburg are learning it too. All of these Billionaires are getting a very expensive lesson in why they need to stay out of the limelight.
Because this is definitely a response against the insanity of fascism.
I don’t think this has much to do with “fascism”. If this was only happening to Cybertrucks (which are a pretty new model) or only happening at dealerships and so impacting Tesla itself that would be one thing but WTF does someone who bought a Tesla 3 years ago have to do with “fascism”?
This is a knee jerk reaction to what Elon is doing with DOGE and one group of people is lashing out at another group of people, many of whom having nothing to do with Tesla or it’s front man aside from having bought a product.
This is a knee jerk reaction to what Elon is doing with DOGE
So it is a reaction to Fascism. Perhaps the targets could be better chosen (player 2 has entered the chat), but it is people reacting to the fascist takeover.
Your take appears very naïve. This is actually a systematic attack against Elon Musk‘s net worth. It appears shockingly effective, it’s still very subdued compared to the hostile takeover that is ongoing in the government. Your longing for proportionality is absolutely misplaced here.
eventually others will start doing do the same thing to further political goals that they agree with.
I, too, remember January 6.
(Disclaimer: I’m not American.)
Not to argue for vandalism, but with the US government illegally detaining and deporting people for saying things that right wingers don’t like, I don’t think the MAGA crowd retains significant reservations about engaging in vandalism themselves – it’s just that so far they haven’t spotted a target where it would serve their cause to do so, and because, with the federal government in their hands, Republicans have much more effective and ostensibly legal methods at their disposal. (Should Republicans be voted out of power eventually, there will most certainly be vandalism from the right, conceivably even widespread violence against people, but this will probably be the case irrespective of whether Teslas keep exploding due to vandalism or only due to bad engineering.)
At this point, a perspective might be that it’s no longer about “a political goal”, but about preventing permanent loss of the ability of the people to achieve anything at all through democratic means.
Still, though: Even with this in mind, it’s utterly true that one should be careful about cheering for any such actions.
don’t think the MAGA crowd retains significant reservations about engaging in vandalism themselves
The MAGA crowd is supposedly the most heavily armed and violent group of fascist thugs in existence and yet somehow they simply haven’t bothered to ever do anything like this.
…it’s just that so far they haven’t spotted a target where it would serve their cause to do so
The coal rolling good ol’ boys with an AR-15 in their back window could have started doing burning down EVs a decade ago when Elon was a Liberal darling…but they didn’t. They could start doing it now but they haven’t.
Should Republicans be voted out of power eventually, there will most certainly be vandalism from the right, conceivably even widespread violence against people…
I’ve been hearing this same argument for over a decade and yet its never really happened. Again, somehow the most highly armed group of violent fascist thugs in existence hasn’t ever bothered to this en masse. Not even when they weren’t in power, like just 2 years ago when they were all POd at EVs and Immigration.
Again, and I can’t stress this enough, fuck Trump and his MAGA idiots. I despise them and I’m not defending them. I’m simply trying to force some reality and introspection into this mess.
Please let us recall the Capitol attack. It was much, much worse, targeting not cars, but people and democracy itself.
(As for Elon, it is important to recall that back then, neither he nor any other liberal magnate had free access to the oval office and his own-or-technically-maybe-not-his-own government agency. His status is wholly unprecedented.)
Ironically, even without the vandalism these cars were ridiculously expensive to insure. When I bought my EV I checked insurance premiums, and it would’ve cost $100/mo more to insure a model 3 similarly priced EV from another maker.
this is what the fanbois never bragged about when the brand used to carry some level of prestige
Reminds me of the Kia and Hyundai challenge.
Yup, my rates soared and insurance companies were dropping customers left and right. I had to abruptly trade it in and it definitely put me off buying Hyundai/Kia for the foreseeable future.
What the heck is that?
Basically those two manufacturers made cars that were easier to steal, and then it became a thing on TikTok.
Ohh yeah. I remember the tech news coverage of the cars being so easy to steal, just didn’t realise there was a “challenge” about it. Unbelievable Hyundai and Kia got away without immobilisers for so long. Really cheeky of them to cut that corner, and it backfired.
They cut the corner because a lack of regulation allowed them to, in order to produce a cheaper model.
It’s a mandatory feature in some other countries.
And of course the insurance rates for those cars skyrocketed. Some insurers wouldn’t provide insurance at all for Kia or Hyundai models that were vulnerable.

can people even insure wank trucks?
Bwahhahahahaaahaha!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
